BJP obstructing Parliament proceedings: CPI
Hyderabad, Aug 5: Communist Party of India (CPI) national council member and MP S Sudhakar Reddy today alleged that the BJP had obstructed Parliament proceedings by raising the issue of leakage of Pathak committee report in both the Houses yesterday.
Demanding that the Centre take action against the persons as per the Pathak committee report after discussing the issue thoroughly, he told newsmen here the BJP was not allowing the Parliament to discuss the issues like price hike of essential commodities and power sector reforms.
Terming that ''it was not good tradition'' that the BJP was creating pandemonium in Parliament which was an 'anti-parliamentary' approach, he said the leakage of Pathak Committee report to the media was 'dangerous' to the spirit of Parliamentary democracy.
Stating that the recent Indo-US nuclear deal was creating a rift between Left parties and UPA government, Mr Reddy demanded that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh should make a written statement and allay the apprehensions among the people that the UPA was accepting the conditions imposed by US.
He said the CPI has no proposal to adopt resolution on the nuclear deal along with the BJP.
