Air services disrupted for third day

Visakhapatnam, Aug 5 (UNI) Air services were disrupted for the third day today as heavy rains under the influence of a deep depression inundated the airport in this eastern port city.

''As storm water entered the airport, all flights from and to the city had to be cancelled, officials said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who made an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas, said 60 per cent of the Rs one crore work taken up in the wake of the flooding of the airport for over fortnight last year, were completed.

The Government would ensure that the Airport was remodelled to prevent recurrence of such a situation in the future at any cost.

The level in the Megadrigedda reservoir was well within the limits and the storm water would be drained in a couple of days for resumption of flights, officials added.
