Action on Pepsico, Coke after CSE report verification:Ramadoss

Chennai, Aug 5 (UNI) Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Anbumani Ramadoss today warned severe action against Coca Cola and Pepsico if the report of the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) on the presence of pesticides in the soft drinks was found to be correct.

In a brief chat with newspersons here, Dr Ramadoss said his ministry had received the CSE report yesterday and experts were studying and verifying the correctness of the findings.

''It is in the process of study by our experts. If the findings of the CSE about the presence of pesticides are found to be correct, we will definitely take stern action against Coca Cola and Pepsico,'' he said.

He would make a statement in this regard in the Parliament on August seven, he added.

His ministry would launch a campaign against the two soft drinks and packed foods, including Piza, like it launched a campaign against anti-tobacco, Dr Ramadoss said.
