No damage reported in border earthquake

Bangalore, Aug 4 (UNI) No damage was reported in the mild intensity earthquake that shook the border area, connecting Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, about 120 km from here, today.

Official sources said the tremors were felt in some parts of Kolar district, but there were no report of any loss of life or damage to property.

According to Met office Director A L Koppar, the quake, measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale, occurred at 0733 hrs this morning at 12.9 degree North latitude and 78.4 degree East longitude.

However, the epicentre was yet to be ascertained. It was likely to be near the Kolar Gold Fields, the deepest mine in the world, he added.
