Naveen suspends Excise Superintendent
Bhubaneswar, Aug 4 (UNI) Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has suspended Bolangir Excise Superintendent R N Bahidar and a clerk on charges of causing a revenue loss of Rs 1.36 crore to the state exchequer.
The Chief Minister while approving the suspension order of Mr Bohidar as recommended by Excise Minister Debi Prasad Mishra had ordered a probe into the matter yesterday.
It was alleged that the Excise Superintendent had deliberately undervalued the production capacity of a liquor manufacturing unit resulting a huge loss to the state exchequer.
Both Excise Superintendent and clerk had connived to suppress production capacity of Hi-tech distillery of Sambalpur.
Against the distillery's capacity of 15 lakh lt, its minium guaranteed quota (MGQ) was fixed as 50,000 lt in official record instead of 4.5 lakh lt, official sources said.
