Bangalore, Aug 4 (UNI) The huge success of IT.in and Bio.com expositions showcasing the advances made by the state in the fields of information technology and biotechnology, has driven the Karnataka Government to organise 'Bangalore Nano' for the first time in the country in this high tech city.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of NASSCOM Engineering Services Summit, State IT Secretary Anup K Pujari said the exposition would showcase the advances made in nano technology and highlight the advantages of using nano applications in various fields.

He said the two-day expo was likely to be held in December.

Besides the exhibition, Bangalore Nano, would also have an event of academic interest to educate people share the knowledge and know the results and benefits of nano technology.

Dr Pujari said the state government had held a preliminary discussion with the officials of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and the Planning Commission in this regard. The government had also decided to hold IT.in and Bio.com on fixed dates every year, besides making Bangalore Nano an annual event.

He said Bangalore would become the first 'wireless' city in the country within two years. The government had finalised the private players who would invest in broadband infrastructure and the cost of the service was expected to come down from the present level.

''In the next four months, a pilot project will be ready. The platform will be very flexible to enable smooth switch over whenever there is change of technology,'' he added.
