Lucknow, Aug 4 (UNI) While dark clouds and the sun continued to play hide-and-seek in Uttar Pradesh, prominent rivers continued to flow above the danger mark.

Central Water Commission (CWC) said all major rivers including Ganga, Yamuna, Gomti, and Sharda were flowing above the red mark.

In the last 24 hours, Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Jhansi, Agra and Mirzapur divisions witnessed light rainfall.

Weatherman said one cm rainfall each was recorded in Varanasi and Lucknow divisions, while other divisions remained dry for want of rain.

Moderate to rather heavy rainfall accompanied by a squall is likely at many places in the next 24 hours, while a sudden burst of heavy downpour might occur at isolated places in the next 48 hours.
