Deep depression crosses Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Aug 4 (UNI) Heavy rains lashed several parts of south Orissa, throwing life out of gear as the deep depression today crossed Gopalpur and lay centred 100 km north east of Jagdalpur.
Met sources here said the system is likely to move in the west north easterly direction and weaken gradually.
Squally weather with wind speed reaching over 60 kmph is likely to prevail along the Orissa coast during the next 24 hours and rains and thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over the state.
The authorities continued to hoist the cautionary signal number three at Gopalpur, Puri, Paradip and Chandbali and advised fishermen against venturing into the sea as it would be very rough during the next 24 hours.
Met sources said Patangi had received maximum of 32 cm rainfalls followed by 22 cm in Jeypore and 21 cm in Koraput.
The maximum temperature at Bhubaneswar was recorded 30.7 degree Celsius and minimum temperature at 24.9 degree Celsius.
