Visakhapatnam, Aug 4 (UNI) Air services remained disrupted for the second day today as heavy rains under the influence of a deep depression, continued to lash Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

With rain water entering the Visakhapatnam airport, the authorities cancelled flights from and to this Eastern Port city.

''As Storm water entered the runway and terminal building of the airport following incessant rains, flights WEre not operated for THE second day today'' Officials said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, reviewing the flood situation from Hyderabad, directed the officials to pump out water from the airport on a war footing and restore flights at the earliest.

The level in the Megadrigedda reservoir was well within the limits and the storm water would be drained in a day or two for resumption of flights, officials added.

The airport was closed down for a fortnight in October last year in the wake of inundation of runway and flooding of terminal building following heavy discharge from the reservoir.
