Widespread monsoon rains in HP

Shimla, Aug 3 (UNI) Widespread monsoon rains lashed almost all mid and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hrs, but no loss of life was reported from anywhere in the state, the met office today said.

Almost all places in Kangra, Una, Shimla, Mandi, Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts of the state received light to moderate rains during the last 24 hrs, while light rains lashed the remaining areas of the state.

The met office said Nagrota Surian and Palampur, both in Kangra, district recorded 43 and 36.2 mm of rain respectively followed by 28.3 mm at Sujanpur Tira, 28.1 mm Guler in Kangra and 27.3 mm at Sundernagar in Mandi district till 0830 hrs.

Sunni in Shimla district received 26.3 mm and Dharamshala in Kangra recorded 26.2 mm of rains, while both Jogindernagar in Mandi district and Bangana in Una district received 25 mm of rains during the last 24 hrs, it said.

Dhundi in Kullu district and Ghamroor in Kangra district also recorded 26.1 mm and 24.2 mm rains, which started late last evening and was still continuing, the met office said.

It said Shimla recorded 12.6 mm of rains till this morning, while Kalpa in Kinnuar received 10.7 and Patsio in Lahau-Spiti received 11 mm of rains, which was unprecedented since the entire Lahaul district had never ever recorded rains.
