Two motorised canoes impounded for unauthorised fishing

Panaji, Aug 3 (UNI) State fisheries department has impounded two motorised canoes for fishing by using unauthorised mini purseine nets in Goan waters.

While one was caught at Vasco-Kharewada, the other was confiscated at Varca. In both the cases, authorities confiscated the canoe along with motors and nets during the raids.

Officials had warned traditional and mechanised boat owners against catching fish using the mini purseine nets which was an offence under the Goa Daman and Diu Fishing Regulation Act,1980.
