Three cops killed in accident

Nagpur, Aug 3 (UNI) Three police personnel, including a sub-inspector, were killed today and three others, including two constables, injured in a head-on collision between a police jeep and a truck at Nandurgaon in Varora taluka of Chandarpur district, according to police sources.

The sourcs told UNI that the accident occurred at about 0300 hrs when the police personnel were on patrolling duty. When their vehcile was moving on the Chandrapur-Nagpur Highway, a speeding truck coming from the opposite side dashed against it.

Sub-inspector Baburao Shivarkar and constable Suryabhan Markande died on the spot while constable Rewanand Katrange succumed to his injuries in the Government Medical Hospital in Nagpur where he alongwith other two injured police constables were admitted, the sources said.

A cleaner of the truck, who was also injured, was admitted in the Chandrapur District Hospital, the sources added.
