Tension continues in Mau after student's murder
Lucknow, Aug 3 (UNI) Tension continued to prevail in Mau on the second day today following the murder of a BJP leader's son yesterday.
Police sources said additional police force have been rushed to the Eastern UP district, while the authorities have ordered closure of all educational institutions as a precautionary measure.
Advocates in Mau took out a peace march this morning to ease out the tension prevailing there.
Senior police officials including Inspector general of police (Varanasi zone) S C Sharma and area DIG along with other top brass were camping at Mau.
Yesterday, protesting the incident, a mob had set ablaze a police jeep and later staged a 'dharna' with the body of the deceased blocking the highway. Irate students also torched a liquor and a carpenter shop during their demonstration.
Ankit Kumar Soni, a class XI student of Taslimuddin Inter College, was shot dead while on his way to school on a bicycle. He is the son of senior BJP leader Triveni Prasad.
Source said four motorcycle-borne assailants were involved in the incident and efforts were on to nab the culprits.
