SSB to induct 10,000 jawans

Kkorajhar, Aug 03 (UNI) The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is all set to bring in ten thousand more jawans by November this year at Dadgiri camp, close to Indo-Bhutan border in Chirang district of BTAD, said SSB IG R.D.Thongchi.

Talking to the mediapersons today, he said that SSB has a shortage of manpower and ten thousand jawans were already recruited.

They are undergoing training at various parts of the country and would be deployed, along the bordering areas of North-East India.

They would be manning the Indo-Bhutan and Indo-Nepal boundary, the IG said.

Earlier, they were the first line of defence in Chinese border but they were withdrawn under 'one force one border' policy.

He further informed that the SSB has been deployed in 70 border outposts in Asom and Arunachal Pradesh since 2004, along the Indo-Bhutan international border, to provide safety and security at the border.
