RJD stages Rajbhavan march protesting land scam

Patna, Aug 3 (UNI) The Rashtriya Janata Dal today took out a procession and marched to Raj Bhavan in protest against the alleged scam in allotment of lands to noted filmmaker Prakash Jha at a throw-away price in Patna and other cities of the state.

Leading the party delegation, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi called on Governor R S Gavai and handed over a memorandum demanding cancellation of the allottment of the prime lands of the state to Mr Jha at a throw-away price by the NDA government.

Through the memorandum the RJD has also demanded an impartial probe into the allotment of the lands by a premier investigating agency.

Later Rabri Devi told newspersons that it was a public issue, which her party would raise from all platforms.

She said all rules had been flouted in the allottment of the land to the filmmaker and this had been done at the cost of common people.

She said the land belonged to the common people and the government has no right to allot it at throw-away rates.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's action had put the state exchequer under a huge loss and her party would fight against it, she added.

She said the issue would be raised strategically in the monsoon session of the House commencing tomorrow.

Mr Jha had been allotted lands for raising 'multiplex' in industrial areas of Patna, Sitamarhi, Hajipur, Aurangabad, Buxar and Muzaffarpur.
