Rains not likely to bless UP soon
Lucknow, Aug 3 (UNI) Rainfall is not likely to bless Uttar Pradesh soon as the system has shifted to North-West areas.
Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Lucknow, Kanpur and Bareilly divisions witnessed rainfall thundershowers.
Varanasi recorded 3 cm rainfall, followed by Mirzapur 2 cm, Lucknow 2 cm, Neemsar 2 cm, while 1 cm each in Ghazipur, Shardanagar and Katarnia Ghat.
High humidity has made life uncomfortable for people across the state.
Moderate to rather heavy rainfall accompanied by squall is likely at many places in the next 24 hrs, the met office said.
Central Water Commission said all prominent rivers, including Ganga, Yamuna, Ken, Gomti, Sai, Sharda and Ghagra were flowing above the red mark.
A report from Bhadoi said several acres of land had been marooned following land erosion in Ganga, and if erosion continued, several villages would be inundated.
