New campaign to set right the system

Hubli, Aug 3 (UNI) 'Vyvastha Parivartan Abhiyan' (system changing campaign) is geared up to work towards achieving its goal of making efforts to control the politics of the country by keeping away from politics, according to campaign leader Bajrang Lal.

Addressing a press conference here today, he said it was envisaged during the freedom movement that a democratic political system would rule the nation. ''But, after the death of Mahatma Gandhi, the system became Government of the elite. Then appeared disorder, values vanished and politics of vote became the norm and unconstitutional activities eroded the national character.'' Mr Lal said the primary role of any Government was to secure justice and security for its citizens, but instead a number of social evils afflicted the people like robbery, rape, adulteration, conspiracy, deception, violence, terror, use of forces, corruption, moral degradation, communalism, casteism, economic disparity and exploitation of labour. Selfish and valueless policies of the politicians and political parties were the reason for this current state of affairs.

He said his campaign intended to address these evils by bringing in a four-point constitutional amendment -- right to recall elected representatives, incorporation of family village and district in the Constitution, incorporation of directive principles as fundamental rights and putting foreign collaboration before Parliament.
