Mettur discharge reduced
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 3: Authorities reduced the quantum of water discharged from the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur across River Cauvery following lower demand from delta farmers.
State PWD sources here this morning said the discharge was reduced to 18,000 cusecs from 20,000 cusecs last evening. The water level in the dam stood at 109.220 feet against the full level of 120 feet.The inflow was 14,587 cusecs.
From the Grand Anaicut in Thanjavur District, about 8,035 cusecs of water was let out into River Cauvery, 5,339 cusecs into Vennar, 3,004 cusecs into Grand Anaicut Canal and 1,501 cusecs into the Coleroon River for irrigation needs, they added.
