Metal detectors, entry pass system at HC demanded
Mumbai, Aug 3 (UNI) In view of the serial blasts in Mumbai's suburban trains last month, a petition seeking to heighten security in and around the Bombay High Court came up for hearing today.
The petitioner, Guru Charansingh Chauhan, stated in his petition as to how anybody could enter the High Court in the absence of any security check. Referring to the threatening letter sent to Registrar of City Civil Sessions Court, the petitioner contended it was important to have proper security checks.
He suggested the court to adopt metal detector system here as used in the Apex Court and also to introduce entry pass system.
A senior counsel Rafiq Dada told the court, the Bar Council was worried about the issue and would meet Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy on Tuesday next.
After the hearing, division bench comprising Justices R M Lodha and N H Patil directed the State to file its response within two weeks.
