K'taka CM finishes 6 months; seeks judgement

Bangalore, Aug 3: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said it was for the people to give their judgement on the performance of the JD (S)-BJP coalition government which completed six months in office today.

''The people of the state should give their judgement on the performance of the government,'' he said when reporters sought his comments on his government completing six months.

He said ''I am satisfied with the performance of my goverment.

It has taken up all development works as promised at the time of assuming office. We have also made sufficient budgetary allocations for most of the programmes as listed in our agenda. I am working with a clear conscience towards achieving the welfare of the people of the state,'' he added.

Asked about the current political turmoil in the state following several allegations being levelled against him and his ministerial colleagues, Mr Kumaraswamy said ''High drama is common in politics.

I am not really bothered about these allegations as they are baseless. I am steadfastly pursuing the goal of giving good goverance and ushering in fast pace development.'' On giving more powers to the Lok Ayukta, he said his government was ready to consider any change sought by the new Lok Ayukta in the statute. We will ensure that no kind of pressure is put on the Lok Ayukta. We believe in giving a free hand to the Lok Ayukta to pursue the aim of ensuring clean administration.'' Mr Kumaraswamy was talking to reporters after attending the swearing in ceremony of the state fifth's Lok Ayukta at the Raj Bhavan here.
