India emerging major destination for KPO: Kellys

Bangalore, Aug 3: Competitive salaries, proficiency in Engligh and high quality professionals have made India the most attractive Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) destination in the world, according to a white paper on KPO released by Kellys Services India, a global provider of staffing services and solutions, today.

The 2006 KPO white paper released here provided an insight into current trends and explosive growth in the KPO industry and what would it take for India to become a KPO hub as it had been for the BPOs.

The study was conducted by the independent research company, Asset Management, in collaboration with Kelly Services.

Kelly Services said ''India is expected to achieve a very high growth rate in all the technically advanced segments of the KPO Industry with Data and Market Research along with R and D in Medical/Pharma constituting plus 50 per cent of KPO business in India. KPOs in India have the capability to compete on equal footing with the best in the world on Process and Technology.'' Ms Achal Khanna, Country General Manager, Kelly Services India said in the release ''India still maintains the competitive advantage for providing, the combination of the most cost-effective and high quality manpower-this is India's strength in the off-shoring business.'' She said unlike BPO, where the recruiting process was relatively simpler and aimed at checking Voice, Accent or Data entry and Attitudinal skills; the KPO recruiting process had to be much more complex, as it also involved evaluation of domain knowledge, intelligence, analytical and data mining skills, decision making abilities conceptualizing skills, verbal and written communication skills, attitude, ability to work in teams and under pressure.

The Kelly Services KPO study showed that India would have a higher growth rate in KPO segment of 45 per cent vis-a-vis 25 per cent of BPO segment. BPO segment would remain the lead revenue earner and job creator due to the voluminous nature of this industry.
