Criminals under the scanner
Patna, Aug 3: Taking serious note of the crimes being engineered behind the bars, the Bihar government is closely monitoring the activities of the criminals, their conversations on the mobile phone and their strategy to commit crimes.
The use and recovery of banned items like cell phones and leathal weapons during raids conducted inside the jails in the state have forced the administration to monitor the activities of the jail birds.
Some criminals were nabbed in the recent past on the basis of the conversations which were monitored closely.
The jail staff was also under the scanner as the frequent entry of the cell phones, sim cards, liquors and other items inside the jail can not be done without their help.
Meanwhile, State Home secretary Afzal Amannulah said that 21 hard core criminals would be shifted to the central jails soon, where State Auxilliary Police (SAP) would be deployed to tackle them. He said the government is also planning to rope in armymen to tackle the criminals.
Constables from Tamil Nadu and Punjab would be deployed in the central jails as they would not be able to understand the regional languages and local dialects making it more difficult for the criminals to communicate messages to their accomplices outside the jails.
