A Private organisation wants set up gas-based power project

Agartala, Aug 3 (UNI) A private organisation, OPG energy private limited has come forward to set up a small gas based power project in the Industrial estate at Bodhjungnagar in Tripura's West district, official sources today said.

The OPG energy, in its first phase will set up an 8 mw gas-based thermal power project at Bodhjungnagar for which wanted necessary lands from the state government.

The Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) Chairman as well as MLA Pabitra Kar told newsmen that the OPG had requsted the Corporation for five acre land for the proposed power project at the industrial estate, about 20 km from here.

The TIDC agreed primarily to allot necessary land to the private organisation.

He said that the organisation had been maintaining a close contact with the state government for this purpose since last three months. At present the requirement of power at the industrial estate for various industrial units is 25 mw and for this another 132 kv sub-station will be setup for which funds were allotted.

If the trends of setting up industry continues, the requirement of power would be 50 mw, the Chairman informed.
