'Welfare of Arunachalee will remain my priority'

Itanagar, Aug 2: Newly appointed Lt. Governor of Pondicherry Mukut Mithi is contemplating media exchange programme between scribes of his state and Arunachal Pradesh in order to exchange views and experiences among the journalists of both the states.

Speaking to reporters at the sideline of the felicitation programme being organized in his respect last night, Mr Mithi said that he would ponder upon such programmes after he got acquainted with the state.

Earlier, the Lt. Governor, while speaking on the occasion, said that though he was far away but welfare of Arunachalees would always remain his priority, for their love, affection and faith had energized him to remain in public life since 1983.

Drawing a parlance between Pondicherry and Arunachal, Mr Mithi suggested a multi-pronged approach supported with concrete action plan to explore natural resources and hydro power for expediting the process of development in the Himalayan state.

Mithi, who was accompanied by his wife Pommya Mithi, further advocated against excessive exploitation of forest resources and stressed on infrastructure development and connectivity to tap the rich natural resources of the state.

Earlier, when the Lt. Governor arrived to a red carpet welcome, he was received at the helipad by the chief minister, his cabinet colleagues, MLAs, top ranking police and civil officials besides Congress leaders.
