Veteran journalist R K Behera dead

Bhubaneswar, Aug 02 (UNI) Veteran journalist R K Behera, who retired as Manager of Press Trust of India, Bhubaneswar, died at a private hospital here today after prolonged illness.

He is survived by five daughters and a son.

Mr Behera started his career as a reporter for the language daily ''Matrubhumi'' in Berhampur after his graduation from Khallikote college in 1953.

He also worked as a reporter for the daily in Cuttack before joining PTI in 1958. He joined the Cuttack office of PTI and then took over the charge of Bhubaneswar bureau from where he retired in 1992.

After his retirement, he worked as a freelance journalist for language daily ''Sambad'' for sometime.
