Tripura govt. proposing for one more engineering college
Agartala, Aug 2 (UNI) Tripura government has constituted a high level committee with Chief Secretary R K Mathur as its Chairman to promote expansion of higher education in this North-Eastern state.
Talking to newsmen here at the secretariat last night, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said the state government was considering to set up one more Engineering College in the state aiming to expand higher education. For this purpose a high level committee had already been set up led by the state Chief Secretary.
The existed Engineering College in the meantime had promoted to National Institute of Technology(NIT). From next academic year the 218 seats will not remain in hand of the state government alone and it would go to the central pool's responsibility.
The state government for this reason is proposing to set up one more engineering college in the state for the interest of the state's students and trying to do this with the efforts of private entrepreneurs. Besides, the state government is also considering to convert the Polytechnic College at Narsinghgarh near here into Engineering College.
