TN Assembly Speaker urges members to maintain decorum
Chennai, Aug 2 (UNI) Perturbed over frequent interruptions, Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker R Avudiyappan today appealed to the Members to maintain the decorum of the House and ensure smooth conduct of the proceedings.
''All the members, whether they belonged to the ruling party or the Opposition, should maintain the decorum of the House'', he said and informed Deputy Leader of the Opposition O Panneersalvam (AIADMK) to instruct his members to conduct themselves properly.
Soon after the day's proceedings began, Members from both the Treasury Benches and the Opposition stood up to raise issues.
Mr D Jayakumar (AIADMK) was seen shouting, demanding the resignation of State Fisheries Minister K P P Swamy for allegedly instigating attack on residents of K V K Kuppam in the city, while Ms Badar Sayeed (AIADMK) wanted to know about the fate of the Breach of Privilege Notice given by her.
Mr P K Sekar Babu (AIADMK) attempted to raise the death of a girl allegedly due to Chikungunya. Mr C Gnanasekaran (Congress), Mr T Velmurugan (PMK) and and Mr O Panneerselvam also attempted to raise some issues.
A couple of members from the Treasury bench too rose from their seats, leading to utter confusion. There was din for a while as nothing was heard.
