Three school girls drown in overflowing drain in Barmer

Barmer, Aug 2 (UNI) Three school girls drowned in an overflowing drain and two women died after being struck by lightning in the border areas of Barmer district.

According to the police, one of the girl's fell into the drain while returning from school late afternoon yesterday in Sada village in Sindhari panchayat. Two of her friends tried to save her by jumping into the drain but drowned in the gushing waters.

The police recovered the dead bodies of the three girls with the help of villagers. Two of the dead girls were sisters.

Meanwhile, Imarti Devi (50) was struck by lightning in Sachau village in Chauhatan tehsil. She was taken to the government hospital where she died yesterday.

Another woman, Babar Kanwar, died after being struck by lightning in Dhorimana region.
