Sugar prices up on heavy demand

Navi Mumbai, Aug 2 (UNI) Spot sugar prices rose on heavy demand, traders at the sugar market here today said.

Ex-mill prices of small and medium grades hiked by Rs 20 and Rs 10 per quintal, respectively, on lesser stock supply.

Prices of small grade and medium grades went up by Rs five and Rs nine per quintal, respectively, on increase of fresh demand.

Following were the spot sugar wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,850/1,881, Medium grade: Rs 1,880/1,951.

Ex-mill: small grade: Rs 1,845/1,870, Medium grade: Rs 1,870/1,900.
