Students demand proper implementation of SSA scheme

Imphal, Aug 2 (UNI) The Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) has charged that the state government has failed to implement the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme properly in the state.

The MSF submitted a memorandum to State Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh informing him that Manipur government, including the Chief Secretary, have not yet responded to the request for a threadbare discussion on the matter.

There is a long standing dispute regarding implementation of SSA, it said.

The neglect on the part of the state government to decide implementing the correct agency for the centrally sponsored schemes like SSA/Mid Day Meal has affected the education system.

"This willful negligent on the part of the government has delayed and affected proper implementation of those centrally sponsored schemes till date," it said.

It urged the government and the Chief Secretary to come out with concrete decision on the dispute within a specific date.
