Shower of meteor-like objects in succession in Guj

Rajkot, Aug 2 (UNI) Meteor-like objects that were found in the garden of a residential society here this evening, are being inspected by local officials.

The five pieces of rock-like matter, which was found here is being sent to Geological Survey of India to ascertain what it was.

Only last evening, there was a shower of meteorites in the adjoining Jamnagar district and also in Kutch. Eyewitnesses said the objects measuring about one sq inch in dimension looked like burning coal.

Fire brigade sources, however, confirmed that it was not coal.

City Mayor Kansukh Bhanderi and Collectorate officials have also reached the spot, officials said.
