Security tightened in AP Secretariat, Assembly building

Hyderabad, Aug 2 (UNI) Police today intensified vigil in city, in the wake of the intelligence report that Maoists might execute strike here to avenge the death of their Andhra Committee Secretary Madhav.

The police personnel today conducted thorough checks near AP Secretariat, Legistive Assembly building, residences of Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs. Bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog squads were pressed into action.

Security was also beefed up for Opposition leader and Telugu Desam Party(TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu.

The police reinforced vigil at all the entry points of city and near the houses of Maoist sympathisers. They were also moving in the city outskirts and in Cyberabad limits, in civil, to keep a tab on Maoist Action Teams.

Talking to newspersons here, Andhra Pradesh Director-General of Police (DGP) Swaranjit Sen said the police was alert after the death of Madhav.

Mr Sen said, the police had taken all steps to curb naxalism.

''We will continue our operations in Nallamala forest area and Prakasham district until we dominate it. Later, we will concentrate on Andhra-Orissa border where we could not make a sizeable impact till now'', he added.
