Rs 900 crore additional budget for railway projects in MP

Bhopal, Aug 2 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has announced Rs 900 crore additional budget in 2006-07 for four railway projects in Madhya Pradesh.

Mr Yadav made the announcement during an interaction with state Commerce and Industries Minister Babulal Gaur in New Delhi yesterday.

Mr Gaur told reporters here that the money would be utilised in speeding up work of railway overbridge at Pithampur-Rau road, Agasaud railway overbridge, Lalitpur-Khajuraho and other railway lines besides laying a third railway line from Bina to Itarsi via Bhopal.

Besides, the Railway Minister agreed to provide Rs 1.5 crore for work on platform no 5.

During his two-day visit, Mr Gaur also met President A P J Abdul Kalam, who advised him to arrange for doorstep availability of facilities in tribal areas for improving education and agriculture.

Dr Kalam appreciated development schemes being run by Nanaji Deshmukh and suggested to implement similar schemes in the whole state.

Mr Gaur also met Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh and urged him to provide assistance for building Gas Tragedy Memorial besides providing central university status to Sagar University.
