President to visit Sultanpur Lodhi on August 17
Kapurthala, Aug 2 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam will visit Sultanpur Lodhi on August 17, to see the cleanliness operation of the sacred Kali Bein, where Guru Nanak after taking bath in the Bein for the first time recited the 'Jaap' (prayer) 'Ek Omkar'.
The President is visiting Sultanpur Lodhi at the invitation of Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal.
Baba Seechewal when contacted confirmed the visit, who received a telephonic call from the President's office last evening.
As the news spread, the followers of the Baba started preparation to welcome the President on war footing.
Deputy Commissioner Raminder Singh today held a meeting with Baba Seechewal at Sultanpur Lodhi to see the arrangements for the President's vist.
The DC in an e-mail to the President explained about the release of Rs five crore for stopping the sewrage water of five towns and dirty water of more than 40 villages flowing into the rivulet.
The DC also wrote to the Chief Engineer (Drainage) to submit the technical report to execute work on stopping of the dirty water flowing into the sacred rivulet.
Baba Seechewal and Mr Singh today discussed the plans for the aerial survey of the President from Mukerian hydel channel near Dasuya, from where 200 cusecs of fresh water was released into the rivulet and the President could see the progress of the cleaning of 160 km long Bein by the followers of Baba Seechewal.
