Barrackpore, Aug 2 (UNI) Police today arrested Sajjan Sharma, a tea merchant, for allegedly killing his wife Ambika, whose body arrived at the Netaji Subhas International Airport from Moscow this morning.

The body was seized by police and sent for post-mortem here.

Police took the action following a complaint, lodged with the Dum Dum police station in North 24 Parganas, by the victim's father Dindayal Sharma, who had received the message of his daughter's death.

''Sajjan's family used to stay at a Dum Dum Road residence.

Sajjan has accompanied the body,'' police said.

The couple got married in 2003. Sajjan used to visit Moscow frequently for his tea business. Ambika was allegedly tortured for dowry, when her husband demanded money from his in-laws regularly, Dindayal Sharma alleged.

He also alleged that his daughter was thrown from the 10th floor of a building in Moscow on July 25. The accused had submitted a death certificate acquired by him from the authorities in Moscow.

''We prefer to send the body for autopsy for the second time,'' police added.
