Oriental Insurance declares 50% dividend, pays cheque to FM

New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd, a leading Indian Non-life insurance company, today declared a dividend of 50 per cent, and paid a dividend cheque of Rs 50 crore to Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

The dividend cheque was presented to the Finance Minister by Oriental Insurance CMD M Ramadoss, in a ceremony at North Block.

The company had recorded a gross premium income of Rs 3,610 crore for the year 2005-06, and registered a net profit of Rs 284 crore.

The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd specialises in devising special covers for large projects like power plants, petrochemical, steel and chemical plants. The company has developed various types of insurance covers to cater to the needs of both the urban and rural population of India.

Headquartered at New Delhi, Oriental Insurance has 21 Regional Offices and more than 950 operating Offices in various cities of the country.

The company also has overseas operations in Nepal, Kuwait and Dubai, and has a total strength of 16,000 employees.
