One militant killed in north Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 2 (UNI) Security forces gunned down a miliant in an encounter in north Kashmir last night, a defence ministry spokesman said.

He said troops on a specific information cordoned off a village at Bandipora in north Kashmir last evening to apprehend the militants hiding there. As the troops were about to storm a particular house, militants attacked them with automatic weapons. The fire was returned and in the encounter one militant, Abdul Rashid, was killed.
