Guwahati, Aug 2 (UNI) There is no likelihood of any talk between ULFA and the Centre in immediate future and rather the security forces have launched a selective operation to eliminate the striking commanders preparing to strike before Independence Day.

Senior official source of both Home Ministry and Asom Government have confirmed that hope of talks had evaporated with ULFA sticking to their demands and the security agencies all concentrating on eliminating the top guns of the ULFA through joint operation.

''In the past 48 hours we have major success both in upper Asom and Lower Asom as the security forces eliminated the main two striking commanders. Near Nalbari the security force killed Heamnta Rajbongshi yesterday and then deep into the night again security forces swung into action and eliminated Rajen Dutta,'' said the source.

Hemanta Rajbongshi, the police source confirmed, was the virtual no 2 in whole of lower Asom plotting and executing most of the lethal attacks in the past months. His body could not of identified yesterday.

Similarly Rajen Dutta was also the commander of upper Asom having a hand in the pipeline blasts, kidnapping, extortion racket as well as bombings.

''He was shot dead in Lahowal and this is one of the big successes,'' he said.

The DGP of Asom Police Deepak Narayan Dutta told newsmen last night that a major strike by the ULFA during the run up to the I-Day celebration was anticipated in the state.

The other big success is the killing of Mridul Hazarika. Mridul Hazarika alias Bhaskar Baruah, who was a prime accused in murder of NGO official Sanjoy Ghose in Majuli.
