No progress in family murder case; Grovers servant arrested in Asom

New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) More than 48 hours after nine murders rocked the Capital police are yet to make any ''tangible progress'' in the Sarai Rohilla family murder case, even as prime accused in the Karol Bagh elderly couple murder has been nabbed by the investigating team.

A senior police officer of the Crime Branch said no tangible progress in the 'family of seven' murder case has been made so far.

However, the post mortem report has revealed that the assault was made with a sharp-edged weapon, mostly on the neck, because of which the deaths occurred.

It also said no mutilation of the bodies of the children had taken place, as was mentioned in some sections of the media.

The vicera report in the matter is still being awaited, he said adding that questioning of relatives, neighbours and others were continuing.

Om Prakash (45), his wife Santosh (40) and their five children -- Manju (21), Babita (15), Dolly (13), Puja (12) and Aman (7) -- were brutally murdered at their 'D' Block residence in Inderlok area of Sarai Rohilla in Central Delhi on Monday last.

While the partially burnt bodies of the husband and wife were found on the ground floor of their house, the bodies of their children were found stripped and piled on each other of the first floor of their residence. Their throats had also been slit.

Meanwhile, in the July 31 murder of 74-year-old Income Tax Officer Ved Raj Grover and his wife Vimla in Karol Bagh, police have arrested their servant from Asom.

The 19-year-old servant, Sikander, is being brought to Delhi tomorrow, said DCP (Central) Neeraj Thakur.

''A mobile phone belonging to the Grovers has been recovered from his possession.'' He has admitted to his involvement in the crime and is being brought to Delhi for further questioning, he said.

''No other recoveries were made from him.'' Meanwhile, family members of the Grovers today said nothing was found missing, except the mobile phone, after the murder though the house had been ransacked.

Ved Raj Grover, a retired Income Tax Officer, and his wife Vimla (70) were found dead at their East Park residence on Desh Bandhu Gupta Road in Karol Bagh area of Central Delhi on Monday last.

Their neck had been slit, house ransacked and the servant, who hailed from Asom, found missing when police reached the spot.

Sikander had been hired by the Grovers from a Green Park placement agency just four days back.
