Monsoon weakens in UP

Lucknow, Aug 2 (UNI) Even as monsoon seems to have further weakened in Uttar Pradesh, some divisions witnessed isolated rainfall in the last 24 hrs.

Rainfall occurred in Varanasi, Faizabad, Lucknow, Allahabad, Kanpur and Gorakhpur divisions.

Varanasi received maximum rainfall at 5 cm, followed by Jaunpur 2 cm and 2 cm each rainfall was recorded in Ayodhya, Chandradeep Ghat and Sultanpur, the weatherman said here.

Medium to heavy rainfall accompanied by thundershowers is likely at many places in the next 24 hrs.

Central Water Commission (CWC) said all major rivers including Ganga, Yamuna, Ken, Gomti, Sharda, Ghagra, Rapti and Gandak were flowing above the red mark.

Sharda in Paliakala was flowing 14 cm below the danger mark.
