Microsoft launches Windows Live Spaces

Bangalore, Aug 2: IT bellwether Microsoft Corp. has began rolling out Windows Live Spaces, the next generation of the world's most widely used blogging service, MSN Spaces.

The new service included social networking features designed to help users discover and connect with friends through their trusted contacts and allowed customers to personalise their Windows Live Spaces with gadgets. Microsoft also announced additional progress on Windows Live with the launch of Windows Live Toolbar.

''With the release of products such as Windows Live Spaces, we continue to deliver on our mission of bringing customers closer to the information and people that matter to them most,'' Mr Steve Berkowitz, Senior Vice President, Online Services Group, Microsoft, said in a release here today.

''Windows Live and Internet-based ad-funded software and service are critical to driving growth for the company, and we are energised about the continued investments we're making to help provide consumers with a seamless and safer online experience,'' he added.

Windows Live and MSN, India Country Manager Jaspreet Bindra said Windows Live Spaces, the next generation of MSN Spaces, was the most widely used blogging service in the world today. There were over six million photos uploaded everyday and 120 million unique visitors each month. Indian users would now be in control through Windows Live Spaces which offered complete choice and customisation for their online experience.
