Maj Khinchi cremated with full state honours
Rajgarh, MP, Aug 2 (UNI) Major Devavrat Singh Khinchi, a senior member of this district's erstwhile Khilchipur princely state, was accorded a traditional funeral with full state honours at Khilchipur's Shahi cremation ground today.
Indian Army personnel played the last Post and offered a wreath.
Former chief minister Digvijay Singh, his parliamentarian brother Lakshman Singh, every MLA from the district, the deceased's relatives belonging to Rajasthan's former princely states and commoners even from surrounding districts formed part of the funeral procession.
All markets were closed in Khilchipur township today.
The 34-year-old officer was the elder sibling of Khilchipur Congress MLA Priyavrat Singh Khinchi. The Major, who was on special duty in Ethiopia on a peace-keeping mission, died there on July 31 following brain haemorrhage. Maj Khinchi is survived by his wife and a daughter, who were with him.
