New Delhi, Aug 2: Bhartiya Janata Party leader Jaswant Singh said here tonight that he did not know the name of the 'mole' in the Prime Minister's Office during the P V Narasimha Rao regime and never claimed that he knew his identity.

''I have never claimed that I knew the name of the mole. It is the media which has claimed that I knew it and was hiding it,'' Mr Singh told NDTV.

Mr Singh said that he was upset with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's attack on him in Parliament but added that there was nothing personal between him and the Prime Minister.

When asked how he had ruled out the possibility of former scientific adviser to the Defence Minister, Dr V S Arunachalam, and some others as the mole, Mr Singh said he thought Dr Arunachalam was not by any account a mole.

On his statement at a recent press conference that the mole no longer lived in India, he said he had said that about the person, who had written the letter to a former US Ambassador in India.

''The media misinterpreted me. Perhaps I did not communicate this in the din,'' the former External Affairs Minister added.
