Jaswant interested in only selling book: Dasmunsi
New Delhi, Aug 1: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs P R Dasmunsi today ruled out any action against former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh for failing to disclose the identity of the mole in the PMO as alleged by him in his book.
''We have no intention to take any action out of political vendetta against BJP leaders,'' Mr Dasmunsi said replying to a question at a press briefing.
''Let the people decide,'' he said replying to another question on Mr Jaswant Singh. ''The country has understood wherefrom the security of the country has been threatened during the last few years.'' Commenting on the foreign minister's failure to disclose the name of the ''mole'', Mr Dasmunsi said this exposed the BJP's helplessness to prove what it had stated.
Having a dig at Mr Singh for what he called his book-selling campaign, Mr Dasmunsi said it was shameful for a former defence and external affairs minister not to be frank enough to say that he was not getting buyers for his book. ''We could have helped him find buyers and even honked to secure buyers for his book,'' he said, adding ''it is a book-selling campaign unparalleled in history.'' Mr Jaswant was more keen on selling his book than revealing the truth on a matter involving national security, he charged and termed it as an irresponsible conduct.
Regarding the note from a former US embassy official to a US senator, referred to in Mr Singh's letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Dasmunsi said if he had procured it through a US agency, ''then it shows his extreme friendliness with them''.
Mr Dasmunsi charged that if Mr Singh kept to himself the secret about the alleged mole during the entire period when the BJP-led government was in power at the Centre, it showed that he was under some pressure not to reveal the truth.
