Heavy rain expected in Surat for next 24 hrs

Surat, Aug 2: Heavy rain is expected in various parts of Surat district during the next 24 hours, district flood control room informed here today.

The district received 676 mm rainfall till 0800 hrs today.

Talukas including Mahuva, Sonagadh, Uchchal, Umrapada and Valod also received rains.

So far, the district has received 22,077 mm rainfall in the season, flood control room records said.

Last year, the rainfall for the corresponding period was 21,560 mm. Water level in Ukkai dam is 332.08 feet whereas the danger level is 345.00 feet.

In Kakarpara, the waterlevel is 161.50 feet for a danger level of 176 feet. In Amli dam, the waterlevel is 113.25 feet and danger level is 115.80 feet.

In Lakhi dam, the waterlevel is 74.55 feet and it has exceeded the danger level of 74.10 feet, district flood control room said.
