New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) After witnessing a normal power supply over the last week following the capital recieving the heaviest showers of the Monsoon season, the power situation in the capital turned grim today with nearly three to four hours of loadshedding in several areas due to shortage.

The discoms were able to meet a power demand of only 3150 MW and had to carry out rotational load shedding of around 400 MW was effected for three to four hours, official sources said.

The crisis was caused by non-availability of around 300 MW power due to inadequate generation by the Rihand, Rajghat and the Pragati power plants.

There was power generation of only 1000 MW out of 2000 MW at two units of Rihand, which resulted in loss of supply around 140 MW power to Delhi.

Further, a power plant at Rajghat was also affected, which stopped generation of 55 MW power for three to four hours.

In addition to this, the 100 MW Pragati Power Station was also not working which is expected to start generation of power tonight.

The overall power situation has remained satisfactory all through the last week following the capital recieving the heaviest spell of Monsoon rains last Wednesday.
