Government plans to set up five uranium processing plants

New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) The Government today said it has identified five locations spread over four different states for the setting up of Uranium processing plants.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Prithviraj Chavan said these new locations are at Banduhurang in East Singbhum district of Jharkhand, Seripally in Nalgonda district and Tummalapalle in Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh, Mawthabah in the West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya and Chatrapur in Ganjam district of Orissa.

He said the processing plant at Banduhurang is expected to be commissioned by the end of this year. In respect of the other plants, various pre-project activities are going on. The execution of the projects will be taken up only after all statutory clearences are obtined and an investment decision is taken by the Government, he added.
