Government keeps controversial GO in abeyance
Hyderabad, Aug 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to keep in abeyance the GO 5, which the CPI(M) leader B V Raghavulu displayed before the media in New Delhi recently and alleged that through it the State Government, which proposed to retrench 65,000 employees of the public sector APSRTC and the Singareni Collieries.
Apart from writing an open letter to Government and public sector employees stating that the Congress government would not retrench even a single employee during its tenure, the Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today newspersons that the GO was not meant to retrench any employee.
Dr Reddy also assured the employees that suitable amendments would be made. He had directed the Chief Secretary to look into the GO and suggest amendments, he added.
The opposition screamed foul and alleged that the GO was brought as per the whims and fancies of the World Bank for sanction of the structural adjustment loan.
The Chief Secretary in a late night communique announced that the GO was kept in abeyance until further orders.
