GO 5 will not hurt employees: Cong
Hyderabad, Aug 2 (UNI) The Congress Party today said the GO 5 was only to study the performance of the PSUs and create employment opportunities in the state.
Referring to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's statement, Congress Official Spokespersons Paladugu Venkata Rao and N Tulasi Reddy told reporters that no employee will be retrenched or any PSU closed.
The Congress Government and the party was committed to implement the assurances given in the election manifesto.
The government had no intention to privatise the APSRTC and APTransco and offer VRS to employees as alleged by the Opposition.
In fact the government had revived the ten cooperative sugar factories in the state which were closed by the TDP Government.
They said APSRTC had started recruiting drivers and conductors for the third time and proposed to purchase 2000 new buses to strengthen its services which were running on profits now after a long gap.
The spokesmen said the government had committed to proide 2.50 lakh new jobs in the state. The government had also taken steps to recruit 7,000 linesmen in in APTrasnco.
It released Rs 350 crore Dearness allowance to its employees in May 2004 and implemented the Pay Revision Committee recommendations which cast an additional burden of Rs 1,600 crore.
