Flood caution in Jodhpur, Udaipur divisions

Jaipur, Aug 2: Heavy and continuous rainfall in Jodhpur and Udaipur divisions have increased the fear of flood in these areas, while three schoolgirls drowned in Barmer district.

A number of houses have also collapsed due to heavy rains in Sirohi district.

According to police and irrigation department, three school girls aged between seven and nine years drowned in an overflowing drain.

The girls were identified as Dariya Kumari, Bhavnri and Swarupi.

Residents of a number of collapsed houses in Sirohi district have asked for relief from the government. Around 20 water bodies in the areas are overflowing.

Traffic on roads connecting Barod in Kota district and Sheopur in Madhya Pradesh has been disrupted due to waterlogging and overflowing of Kali Sindh, Parvan and Parvati rivers in Kota district.

The weather office has recorded 180 mm rains in Mount Abu located in Jodhpur division, 130 mm rains in Sanchor in Jalore district, 90 mm in Bhinmal in Barmer district.

The state capital has been witnessing light to moderate showels over the last two days.

The weather office has predicted showers in several places in eastern Rajasthan and at few places in rest of the state.
